No. As a human being on this planet, you have the right to believe whatever you should choose. Anyone who passes judgement on that is attempting to super impose their beliefs onto you. God is to you, whatever you perceive it be. The truth is, no one human being will ever be able to fully perceive the greatness of what God is, so in this modeling, no one could ever conceivably say that your beliefs are egocentric without making an uneducated statement.

There is nothing egocentric about this belief. in fact, it would be egocentric to disbelieve in god. If one were so great as not to need this higher power, he could accomplish so much of his own power. Therefore, it stands to reason that we need to believe in a God and not in ourselves.

Not unless that one God tells you not to worship other gods and to look down upon those who are apart from him. In that case it's the God who resembles the Ego and that can influence those who believe in him. If there were one true God who was the source of all things, what we take from life would add to what he takes from it. he would see life from the eyes of both the mugger and the mugged and both experiences would be equally valid to him. He wouldn't set up laws and moral standards because he gave us spirits that have standards of their own. He designed this reality to be chaotic so that we could experience fear and uncertainty, but not forever. Our ability to believe (or not) in any God results directly from being physically kept from knowing the truth. When we leave this physical reality, we take what we've learned from what we've done, but the physical experiences themselves and our beliefs are left behind. Atheist, Theist, Deist, polytheist they're all beliefs just the same. If someone gets defensive or pushy It's because they've mistaken what they believe for what they know.

No, but it is pointless. Since it is not possible to demonstrate either the existence or non-existence of god, it follows (from the latter) that belief in god can have no consequences of any sort in the real world. Since it is a waste of time to do so, I don't.

I don't see how it could be egocentric -- unless you think that you are Him / one / whatever.
