I was reading this really cool magazine called "Making Music." There is an article several issues back that showed studies where children were more successful in school if they listen to music.

Turn the music soft or to a comfortable level though so your parents get the idea that you are doing homework, not just listening to music.

I'm an adult and I bring my mp3 player to work. My boss doesn't seem to mind as long as I produce my assignments by the time I said I would.

I listening to music while I work! As long as I'm not doing math homework, then I get distracted. But with any other subjects, it's okay. It makes the homework seem like it goes by faster.

i like to listen to music no matter what im doing i listen to different things depending on what im working on but yes listening to music while doing homework was a must for me or at least the tv in the background i perfer music though cuz i usually watched the tv so just tell your parents that it helps you concentrate and that it doesnt bother you and that if you didnt have any on then it would bother you but as long as you get your homework done and get grades it shouldnt matter

No I tend to disagree,I am a retired special education teacher and what helped my kids was letting them listen to music while they were doing there work. The only time we didn't play music was when I was up teaching.I found that it soothed there thoughts. We played really soft Jazz like Kenny G J Osborne etc.Let your parents know it's really helping. And by the way talk to your teachers especially your English teacher she might agree.Well I hope This answer helps...By The way my kids were 6Th,7th-12th graders and they did fine.

I did homework with music on and my grades were good. Explain to them your side and if your grades are good they should bug off. Not that they will. Use headphones as it is probably bothering them.

I used to listen to music doing revision for exams...strange but true and it helped me get A's & B's...Each person to their own methods.

Don't listen to your parents, they're not you.
