Had a problem with furry green algae stuff myself and although I don't know the name of the weed and therefore don't know exactly if its the same problem you have two options.

1) Cheap Option. Continuously use a stick to remove weed. Laborious but no expense.
2) Medium expense option. Use bacteria to do the job and put hay balls in.
3) Expensive Option. Use a UV light, a pump will pass water through and gradually purify the water and break down the green stuff on the side of the pond. However you MUST use a filter in conjunction with the light otherwise the pond will turn pea green and kill your fish ( i made this mistake, lost three fish and took 8 months to clear my pond!).

Good luck.

Get the wellies out and the rubber gloves - only one way and that is to physically remove it.

Some times if you put and garden fork in the water you can wrap a lot of the weed around that and remove it from the pond.

Leave it until the spring I think to protect fish and other wild life in the pond.

Leave debris when clearing by the side of pond for a few hours to allow wildlife to get back in pond and then compost the waste.

To try and prevent it coming again I think you need to get some advice on plants that you can grow in the pond that will oxygenate and help keep the water clean.

Hope that is helpful

hello, having a pond can be so much fun huh?! i also have a pond and deal with algae. the best thing you can do is get some pond plants and bacteria. any pond place or pet store should have it. actually the bacteria and plants will tend to put that nasty algae at bay. also make sure not to over feed in a pond as the algae will feed of the leftover food. also, is your pond in direct sunlight? they do have products that color the water and help keep that string algae away. but, algae is important and you will have some no matter what. i put bacteria in my pond all through out the year and i have really nice water, so try that and hope it works for you!..jewels

you will in no way sparkling your pond thoroughly of algae/blanket weed. fairly than hotel to chemical ingredients only take a backyard cane, and preserving sparkling of any fish, roll the cane around the sides, as though to make a candy floss. It winds itself around the cane, making it trouble-free to get rid of.Its on going, yet safer and fit on your fish. I even have only offered an extremely-violet equipment, that's meant to be marvelous for this variety of challenge. i've got seen the outcomes from a kin member, whose pond is crystal sparkling!! worth a attempt!!!

If it is Blanket Weed then you need to fish it out and then get some barley straw pouches. As the straw decomposes it produces peroxide that kills the weed.

If it is crispa weed, your pet shop may take it off of your hands. It is fantastic for oxygenating the water.

Crispa can be handled and bunched, if it is just a green blobby mess, like green candyfloss, it is prob blanket weed.

What in this weather?. Sun Weed, get a bamboo cane, poke it amongst the weed and spin it, drawing the weed round it. Fit a UV filter.
