I'm transcribing a piece for a string quartet and I need to know...
* How low the violin can play
* How low the viola can play
* How low a cello can play
* How high each of the instruments can go (assuming the player is at about a middle-school level. I suppose I'll just have to suite it to the players themselves)

A violin can play from G below middle C to G four octaves above middle C. A viola can play from 1 octave below middle C, and goes up three octaves and a third to E. A cello can play from C two octaves below middle C to E an octave above middle C. Pretty much anyone can play the highest note on these instruments.
