In my apartment building it happened a lot that the fire department stopped by. At least 3 false alarm rang. I am concerned about our important papers, i.e, passport, SS, credit cards, taxes, etc.

fireproof safe in the bedroom closet.

Contains all our birth cetificates social security cards my oldest daughters adoption papers, marriage license, wills, deeds to our houses, titles to our cars, and our dogs AKC papers. Also the kids and dog's and cat's shot records. Only person other than my husband and myself with the combination is my sister- who just happens to be the godparents of our kids and who will be in charge of all our stuff when and if we die.

Either buy a fire resistant safe or get a safe depisit box at your bank. I keep mine laying around (handy) - not good. But I usually take computer scans of the important ones.

Gee!
Smart move!
Why doesn't everyone just tell the worl\d where they keep their important things.
Why not just hang a sign on the door telling everyone that the spare key is under the *** ,or on the *****?
