well noises are always hard to track down the noise if it is coming from the engine compartment could be your power steering pump if it is low on fluid or leaking it will make more of a whining noise than a grinding noise if it is coming from the steering the cause could be many things alot of times the outer tie rod ends make noise so do the stab links heres what you do take it to your ford dealer for an oil change maybe mention that to them i work for them and we do a full 99p inspection on each vehicle for free with every oil change if they here the noise moving the car they might find the problem and you won't get charged for diagnosis give it a try if anything you will have clean oil

Bad CV joints in the half-shafts. (pretty common as vehicles age.)
Bad front wheel bearings. (rare)
Brake problems (pretty common as well.)

You'll need to get it evaluated by a mechanic.

A grinding noise would not likely be a fan belt. That would make a high-pitched squealing noise, and not just when you turned but most of the time the engine was running.

it could be either the front outer cv joints are bad ,,,looked for ripped boots.
it could be low or no power steering fluid in you reservoir,,you have a leak.
it could be a broken spring on your front struts,,
what ever it is you'll half to get it checked out take a friend and have the mechanic show you the problem before any repairs are made.

It sounds like steering problems. You need to get it fixed ASAP. Do not drive it anywhere until a professional looks at it. If you do not feel that the first shop gives you a fair assessment of the problem, get a second opinion. We all get several estimates when doing repairs on a house, why not on a car? But please get it fixed. If it is what I think it is, it is dangerous to drive.

the belt is stretched(power steering one)
replace it for a new one

check the power steering fluid level, before anything.

in case the car need a mechanic, make a male friend go with You.

and please.do not say that tires are about falling off ,they might reap You pocket

I still believe is only the power steering belt.

Have you had your brakes checked? i know when you here grinding thats usually because of brakes. But i'm not sure if that applies to when you turn left or right.

sounds to me like your wheel bearings are shot. get them looked at asap. further damage will mean a bigger repair bill
