They are racists. I know most blacks think it is not possible. If this was the case it wouldn't be important who said the word "***-r" or "***-a". All that would matter is that it was said. Most young black men and some women believe that the color of the person saying it determines if it was right or wrong. If you find yourself in the same position, can't discuss anything because you are not "dark anough", then the people who are shunning you out are racist. Limiting what one can or cannot do based on the color of one's skin is racist.

I don't think there is any reason to be ashamed for any color or hue of your skin. I personnally find light skinned blacks very attractive and I had no idea there was such an issue, it is probably a racist US thing, as a reaction to racism against blacks perhaps?

As a European here I have notices the obsession about race in the USA. Must be a huge Identify crisis going on over there

lighter skinned blacks are actually preferred to the darker ones, so they tend to receive preferential treatment from other people.

What nonsense. It does not matter what colour anybody's skin is - what matters are human values and personality.

Huh? Say whut?
Maybe you're ashamed for your own personal reasons, but I haven't met a light skinned black yet that was anywhere near ashamed of their complexion, does Beyonce look ashamed? Is Mya ashamed?

I live in Baltimore County, we probably have some of the best looking light skinned black people in America, and I can assure you, nobody here is ashamed. There may be some haters, hating on them, but they are not ashamed...in no way shape or form.

Take a look at some of these beautiful people, and ask yourself if they're ashamed:
