My advice is to get to your local music store and get some beginner guitar books, they'll show you how to play basic chords and strum and all that. Just have fun with it and don't expect too much too fast , it WILL come eventually.

cool. i like strats. they are my favorite, got one. you need to get a book on learning the basics or you can go take lessons, i like the lessons better. then once you master the basics you can start becomming that "strat-o-matic" you wanted to be, but it will take time, practice, and patience.

Go to local bars and clubs, or anywhere there are guitar players playing, and just watch them, until you get enthused enough to talk to them, and they will tell you everything you need to know, on how to get started, I won't mention all the girls that they attract!!!

you need to buy a korg chromatic tuner-19.99. you need to learn how to tune.

you need to buy some picks, you need to buy an amplifier (i recommend a line 6 spider III amp), you need to buy a case or gig bag (go with the hard case unless you cant spend an extra 50 bucks)..im sure other people have answered this question for you already, so i guess good luck to u.

Learn scales. Get you hand used to the fretboard and it should loosen up your fingers after a while.
