Hi, pregnant 6 weeks and 2 days and having a terrible time with feeling sick. ALso just getting over the flu. I havent actually been sick but there is a feeling of it 24/7! I have heard that some women go through all day sickness and not just morning sickness but this is really throwing me. I cant eat but when I do force myself, I have terrible bloatedness and acid indigestion. I am going to the doctors tomorrow but wondered if I could hear from other mums to be about their experinces and what they tried in order to overcome it?Thanks in advance.....

You poor little thing!!I've got five children and until my last 2 i'd never experienced morning(noon and night)sickness.Bam!With number 4 I thought I'd died.I could barely move off the sofa, eating was impossible and EVERYTHING smelled gross. My poor husband had to change shampoos 'cause I threw up every time he showered!!!I asked around and what I found really helped was candied ginger.I found it at a health food store but you can also get it at a regular market.Ginger tea works well too.Crazy enough eating lemons or other sour things helped tons too.I mean like sour candies you suck on or chew on.I tried Sour Patch Kids and Shock Tarts,do they have those in England? Also hot(as in cinn amon)helped.Almost always by 3 monthes you feel tons better.Keep in mind studies show that if you are having morning sickness, you probably have a good healthy pregnancy and hormone levels are where they should be.

To understand what these are, you need to know that a solvent is the part that does the dissolving (usually water, a.k.a. the universal solvent), and a solute is the part that is being dissolved (such as salts, sugars, acids, and bases). For all solutions the solute must be added to the solvent, NOT the other way around. especially with acids and bases, this could cause some serious problems. 1. An unsaturated solution is a solution that can dissolve more solute without changing any of the current conditions (such as temperature), and there will be no visible unsaturated solute (e.g. you can't see the salt at the bottom of the cup and you can dissolve more salt with out having to heat the water.) 2. A saturated solution is a solution that has reached its maximum solute load. It can't saturate any more, and you may or may not see some extra solute floating around, depending on whether you added more than the solvent could dissolve or not. 3. A supersaturated solution is a solution that has been altered (usually heated) in order to dissolve more solute than it would be able to under normal conditions. The will be no undissolved solute present.

I was nauseous during both my pregnancies almost 24/7. Certain foods made this worse so I had to avoid them completely (onions and garlic come to mind but there were loads). I ate lots of Rennies and ate little amounts often - dry crackers were a godsend. Was told that crystal ginger helps with indigestion but I couldn't stand the taste. Another thing that helped was the smell of disinfectant - Dettol in particular. Loved the smell of this and I couldn't get enough of it. Also tea tree oil - anything that smelled 'clean' seemed to calm down the nausea but god knows why!!!
A lot of mums only get morning (or all day) sickness for the first 4 months so hopefully you'll be one of the fortunate ones who enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. See what your doctor says about it tomorrow and get some tips from the midwife - they've seen it hundreds of times and have loads of helpful tips.

With my first daughter, now 2, I suffered from Hypertemisis Gravidera from 5 weeks. Throwing up everything I ate and drank. I had to get up and drink a pint of water just to be sick. There are so many different things you can try and different things work for different people. If you are feeling thirsty all the time, even after just having a drink, make sure you have your thyroid levels tested. Acid indigestion is the worst. I tried everything ginger, from ginger biscuits to ginger tea, dry crackers before getting out of bed, sipping drinks, fruit pastels. I am 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd daughter and I have been sick once at 12 weeks, it is true that every pregnancy is different. My Thyroid played a big part in my sickness the first time round and it is something that can be monitored and changed with medication. Thyroid levels are one of the hormones that do change and increase and decrease during pregnancy. Good luck xx

Just count your blessings. Many women not only feel nauseous, but vomit constantly. My best friend spent most of her pregnancy in the hospital on IV fluids because NOTHING would stay down. FOR NINE MONTHS.
The sort of nausea you are experiencing is totally normal and sounds pretty mild. It usually goes away at around 12 weeks. Just hang on, it really should get better. My only advice for now is this. Eat as often as possible but not very much at once, and try to stick to blander nongreasy foods. You may notice that the food isn't what's making you sick too, it may be the smell of the food, or the smell of your perfume, or just about anything. Lots of women go through this, I couldn't stand the smell of my shampoo in my first pregnancy, but it took me a minute to realize that that's what was making me sick.

I think most pregnant women would be glad if it was just 'morning sickness' as from what I can tell, most women experience it throughout the day.
I had it up until 14 weeks, although I was only ever sick once.
Nothing helped.
The bloatedness will probably go away in a couple of months. The acid indigestion doesn't go away either!
These are the joys of being pregnant.

My morning sickness with my first born was terrible, I got sick starting at 4w pregnant and it lasted until the end of my 5th month. I couldn't keep anything down. I was terrified my baby wasn't getting proper nutrients, etc. My doctor was less concerned then I was and told me to keep taking my prenatals and drinking plenty of water. Easy for her to say I guess LOL. My prenatal pills made me soooo sick that i had to switch brands a few times. Eventually I settled on the ones I'm using now "Orfer-F Prenatals" They are small pink pills that are MUCH easier to swallow then the others out there. Eventually by 4m pregnant my doctor gave me these little white pills to take after I ate and they worked a little. I still had a sensitive gag reflex, but I could eat a full meal again. My tips for managing morning sickness... drink lots of water, keep taking your pills, and eat small meals more often instead of 3 large meals a day. Also, do not drink Orange juice, coffee and sodas, these give you mad *** gas and will make you have heartburn and make you throw up too.

I had a difficult time for my two pregnancies.
Sickness till the 6th month.
All the mums I had talked to before had told me that they only had it for the first 3 months.
I was tired; found it difficult to walk.
I guess my life was pretty stressed at that time anyway.
So, I'd suggest that you do rest; Look after yourself.
Avoid confrontation, and try and relax.
Put your feet up; That will definitely help.
Still, I'd love to have more children when I meet my Mr Right!
Good luck, and take good care of yourself.xx

Hi, i'm 15 wks pregnant with my second and have been constantly heaving since 5 wks pregnant! even looking at a carton of goats milk in tesco made me sick, also looking at bread rolls! the best thing to do biazarrely is eat! try ginger biscuits, toast, sucking mints, drinking iced water. ( I also have terrible travel sickness.) If you are sick it will be this vile froth like egg white! get your doc to give you gaviscon for the heartburn, try to eat regularly and don't get over tired as this makes it worse. It is a good sign to feel so sick, itmeans there is loads of pregnancy hormone so no risk of miscarriage. Good luck with it all, keep smiling!

umm at the start of this pregnancy raspberry lemonade really helped i read its sumthing to do with the acid and your body needs more of it you could try that but i am sure you'll find sumthing that works for you somtimes i would just constantly snack on things it seemed while i was eating it wasn't as bad so i would just nibble on crackers etc. also you'll find stuff that you can eat and you'll just have to stick with that for a while even if that's all you eat i really like green and yellow beans this pregnancy last time it was all about the spring mix salad i think green stuff really helps with the iron and stuff like that though and worse comes to worse just have a sleep and hope you feel better when you wake up
