or a Clinch in the computer set up and needs fixing before the whole computer crashes and you lose what you do have...

There are a few helpful answers already but it would have been more helpful if you had given more info. Do follow some of the advice given before you rush off to see the Computer Geeks. That will probably save you at least £30.
This site is extremely GOOD because there are people who want to help you.

most of critical errors are not really an errors but fake alerts made by spyware. if it takes you to certain website and says you have to buy an antispyware/antivirus, you can be sure that those alerts are just an advertisements shown by spyware. don't buy what the alerts are suggesting to you! think of how reliable can a software be, if it is advertised in such a malicious way?
you need an antispyware to remove this, try spybot search and destory, it's a great tool and it's free! download here http://www.2-spyware.com/review-spybot-search-and-destroy.html

Sounds like your computer is infected with the Zlob Trojan. This has nothing to do with where you bought your PC, it has to do with the websites you were visiting lately! You got infected. Zlob Trojan generates 'Critical Error', 'System Alert' and other fake warning messages, then tries to force you into buying rogue antispyware products. To remove these message and the trojan that generates them, download and scan your PC with SpyNoMore, it is the most accurate program in detecting zlob infections.

Have it checked out where you got it from. If they don't have that option, bring it to your local Best Buy (Geek Squad) or CircuitCity (firedog) and they will check it out for a nominal cost.
