I want to get a divorce but wondering if I need to since we were married in another country.

If the USA recognizes that you are married (from another country) then you need to get divorced. Even if you don't get charged with bigamy, your next marrage is not legal while still married to someone else. This same thing just happened to James Brown's wife. They got married, then she realized she was still married to someone else from before, she got a divorce from the first one but did not remarry (or renew their vows) (her and James) after the divorce from the first one. So her marrage to James was not valid - she lost every thing and couldn't even go back to her (and James) house.

Yes. If you were married anywhere on the planet, you are considered to be married in the U.S.. If you don't get a divorce, and your wife shows up here, she can claim half of everything you own. If you have remarried, then she can have you arrested, and jailed for polygamy.
