My mom had a stroke and no longer knows who anyone is half the time, but my dad still takes care of her and loves her just as much as he did when they were young. She asks him a lot if they can get married on Christmas day, so he has a lot of Wedding magazines laying around the house for her to "Plan" their wedding with when she's bored.

no, i am almost 16 and my parents are going through a divorce right now. i thought they were going to be together forever. but my dad was being stupid and cheated with over i think 20 something or 30something people in 4 years. my dad is now in korea for the army and i talk to him almost every week. i have only seen my dad 2 times in the past 3 years (including 2007) each only 3 or 4 days. i still love him even thought was stupid and left the best thing that will ever happen to him.

No - thank God! They separated when I was 2 then got back together. Luckily they had my beautiful little sister and then separated for good when I was 5.
Don't see my Dad now - but my Mum made up for that so instead of 2 fighting parents we have 1 great one.
I can't complain!

Sorry to hear that about your folks but maybe you had a happier childhood with them being apart and not being unhappy together. My parents are both alive and well after 52 years of marriage and I believe that they are setting some kind of record. At least at one Christmas function this past season they won a prize for being the couple married the longest at the party.

No - my mum died when I was 22 and dad remarried just over a year later. Mum and dad had been together for 23 years and I'm glad he was lucky enough to find someone else that he could love and who loved him back as much.

Mine divorced when I was three. At the weekends it's really quite around here. All the children seem to go their dads houses! There aren't many kids in my daughters class with both parents still around.

...so did mine..when i was 6 my mum met my stepdad...no..my dad...i define him as the man who loved me as a kid, tolerated my teenage tantrums and my nightmare 20's..put calamine on my chicken pox...and all that stuff...that is my 'dad'...he married mum when i was 7...mum was 30 and he was 23..he married her in the full knowledge she could have no more children so took me on completely and gave up hope of fathering a child himself at a young age....i am nearly 37 now and they are still together...mum had a stroke 7 years ago aged 53 and he now holds down a full time job AND cares for her...AND THAT IS VERY HARD WORK....trust me...i have stepped in a few times and he works as well...he deserves a medal....so to all good step parents in this world...THANK YOU....my dad has gone way beyond what most people could cope with...i could not do it...i am just glad i have a son...his chance to be Grandad...my son is 4...so knows no difference...THAT SAYS IT ALL...my dad is whoever my son sees as his grandad...and thanks dad....you are a true star...we love you...xxx
