Is there a reset button inside the diswasher. Tried main breaker. There are no LEDs, nothing. We set it to time cycle on. Looks like it came on (the tub is about 1/3rd full of water) and then quit.
Wish I had an ohm meter to check the switches, etc.! ! !

How old is it? Call Sears. You already own a Whirlpool, that's who makes Kenmore appliances

Look over the schematic in the owners manual. It will tell you if their is a reset. Also go back over the whole install process, you may have missed something. Make sure you didn't have to do anything before you start the machine. Like pull a drain plug or turn a vavle on. If its kicking off something is not right. This is probably a safety feature, or your drain may be backing up. Take a break and read manual, it will come to you.

If your sink is not backing up you can rule out plumbing pipes as the issue. Here a couple of things it could be: If you look under the sink you should see a hose that has ribs on it and is either connected at the garbage disposal or is hooked to "T" coming off the plumbing pipe. This is the drain hose for the dishwasher. Now, I have seen where its hook at the disposal in a couple of cases and the plastic fitting coming off the garbage disposal has melted and collapsed. So, you you might check that. The other thing could be you have a restriction in the pump motor itself. However, in this case you have to pull the pump motor off the bottom of the dishwasher in order to verify its free and or partially blocked. If you not mechanically inclined, then you best bet is to probably call and appliance repairman to trouble shoot and make the corrective repair to the dishwasher.

If you can remove the display/control panel there should be a small glass fuse to protect the electronic components. I can't really help because you didn't provide model #, year made or anything else to go on. If you do access the control panel, visually inspect the printed circuit board and it's components for damage or corrosion.

I would make sure the switch on the door is getting tripped on.This is part of the safety circuit and if it is not contacted the machine will not do anything as you describe...This has happened to mine when someone leaded against the door and sprung it slightly..maybe it is just out of adjustment. But I think it probably needs replaced.
