Everytime I put on mascara it tends to 'melt' after a while although the product I'm using is waterproof. I checked my techniques on my sister and hers didn't smudge. So I know I'm not doing it wrong. I don't have oily skin or anything. And by the way I wear contacts. But I don't think that affects, does it?
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I usually use a thin layer or concealer under the eyes to cover up any dark circles.

Thanks BoSoxBabe, I'm currently using Maybeline mascara (forgot which range), and L'Oreal eyeliner. I sometimes forego the mascara and just use my eyeliner. It still smudges (yes, I also tested this on a few friends - they all stayed fine). And I don't rub my eyes since the makeup looks horrible afterwards. So either one, mascara or eyeliner, they all smudge on me!! I don't understand!! So maybe it's the oily skin huh? I do use a layer of powder on top of my concealer

i am a big mascara fan, my mascara has never smudged out. i normally wear a lighter tone of face powder underneath my eyes. i use Maybelline, they have good mascara products :) loves it! i use the one that's made for asians cos' of the weather asia has, the humid weather tend to melt mascara/foundation out, so i use those products that are made for asians. they dont melt and its good!

I do the same thing - I wear concealer under my eyes, have contacts, and use waterproof mascara, and my mascara still sometimes melts, although it's getting better. Did you just start wearing make-up? I used to rub my eyes a lot, but once I started wearing makeup, rubbing my eyes made my make-up smudge. You have to train yourself to not touch your eyes. Also, some waterproof mascaras are not as good as others. Try a few different brands to see which one works best for you (Maybelline has some good waterproof mascara, and so does Avon). Also, do you wear eyeliner? It could be your eyeliner smudging instead of your mascara. If thats what it is, try finding some waterproof eyeliner or use a thin line of shadow instead. If the shadow smudges, it will look more natural. Hope that helped : )

try not to use waterproof mascara (it can break your lashes off). second try using a higher quality product. personally i prefer chanel for mascara and eyepencils and estee lauder for liquid. the estee lauder one actually is smudge proof and still wases off easily.
my fav. products
chanel inimitable mascara
chanel intense kohl crayon
estee lauder pure color eyeliner.
pricey but well worth it

I really don't know what you are doing wrong. You could try some She- laq from Benefit cosmetics to keep smudging from happening. http://www.benefitcosmetics.com

it could be because your using a liquid concealer. try to use powders around your eyes and experiment with better mascaras.
