I know that there are gay couples out there , but it seems a bit much to think that every other couple is gay. Or the DIY staff pics out gay couples beecause they themselves are gay and playing favorites.

Probably to some degree both persons are correct. Another thing to consider, I don't know how the application to participate in the show comes to pass, but , if one of the questions deals with how much cash the couple is willing to part with to participate, I would suspect a gay couple has a greater income than a lesbian, or straight couple. Gets back to the fact that women make less than men even for the same job.
And too they must be politically correct.

Maybe within the genre of the show more gay couples apply to be on it ...so as a matter of default there end up being more gay couples ...or it can be a choice of the producer to feature equal amounts af homosexual and hetrosexual couples

There is a movement to promote homosexuality. It's everywhere. It is predicted in the bible. It will not be stopped.
