Even if they don't steal from their neighbor, they'll decide that they need the same thing "to be happy," and forget that they already are happy. It's an endless cycle. I don't believe there's any "final" happiness. It's what you and I make of what we already have now. We really don't need a happy ending. We can choose to be happy now, halfway through our life story.
