Yes, it increases the chances of the AFP test being wrong. A lot of women don't do that test at all with multiples. I didn't do it and I only had one baby. I waived it because I work with special needs children and know a couple of children with Downs Syndrome, where the test came out fine. I also know many people who had false positives. An amnio is the only way to know for sure, but that carries a chance of miscarriage. The sonogram will let you know about how the baby is medically, so that usually is good enough. Good luck, I'm sure the babies will be fine.

I'm not fully understanding this question... multiple pregnancies? As in if you've been pregnant before, or as in Twins or Triplets? AFP test is the blood test right? If the blood test came up positive then you are pregnant. The blood test can have a very high number and predict if you are having twins or not, but this isn't always the case. There is a margin for error even in the AFP test. I hope this helps! I did my best :)

Alpha Fetal Protiens are usually elevated when there is a multiple pregnancy.

A sonogram can rule that out.

One positive can be false. Several tests being positive means it's positive. Congratulations I hope?
