I'm 14 and 5'4" and I really want to grow taller. I do lots of yoga and drink lots of milk but I'm still not even as tall as my mother (who is 5'5", my father is 5'9"). I used to drink coffee (is it true that it makes you shorter?). I feel like my only option left is growth hormones... HELP!!!

You will grow for several more years. I grew an inch after the age of 18!

Eat healthy foods and do Pilates, which can lengthen your spine.

I don't think there is anything you can do to get taller. Maybe drink milk or something, but I don't think it will help. I don't think coffee makes you shorter either. What is so wrong with 5'4"? I'm 14 too, but I am like 5'6" or something. Isn't 5'4" pretty normal for 14? Most of my friends are at that height or below it. I know a lot of people who are way, way shorter than that at 14 and a lot of people at that height too. Unless you are below 5 feet at age 14, I don't think you need growth hormones.

It may not even matter how much milk you drink of how much exercise you do.... neither of your parents are very tall so maybe it's just not in the cards for you.

Im not sure about the whole coffee thing. I mean, I've heard a lot about it but there are a lot of people that say the caffeine really only affects other aspects of health like heartburn, obesity, and even still-births. But there isn't real evidence that it stunts your growth.

You should be happy with the height you're at. Im only 5'3" and Im 16. Just be glad you aren't barely over 5 feet like a bunch of people seem to be today. =)

Sorry rachel but your height is mostly genetically determined. At 14 yrs you are almost done your youth growth period...by 16 you should be done...your parents aren`t very tall so you will get what you get. Also no Dr will prescribe growth hormones for no other reason than wanting to be taller...the side effects are not worth it. At 5`4 you are taller than most people in my family...hasn`t harmed us any.

I was 5'1" my 7th grade year... and I only grew to be 5'1" and 3/4 by my freshman year (16yrs) and am still that height at 25. You should feel fortunate to be as tall as you are at your age. I did get my wish, I am (3/4") taller than my mom! Let me tell ya, if there were a way, I'd be taller by now. At my age I love my height though. Guys really seem to like a peite girl.

Look, you can try milk and other calcium rich food because they do help with bone growth which leads in an increase in Ur height. But, dear, its genetics, sometimes u can't play with Ur genes, accept Ur self the way u are.

Odds are you will be between 5'4" and 5'9". You will not reach full height until you are about 20 to 21.

Unless you have exceedingly tall direct relatives.

My Brother is 5'8" his wife 5'7" and their children are 5'10", 6',
6'3" and 6'6". It comes from their uncle and grandfather who are exceptionally tall.
