Hi CLueless
Here are some ideas to use to heal the condition.
Treat Both Ears: The simple, old-fashioned aids are sometimes very fast in giving relief. Always treat both ears, even if only one aches.
1. Onion: Lightly bake a large onion, cut it in half and while warm (not hot enough to irritate the area), bind one half of the onion over each ear. Bandage in place and hold bandage on with a nightcap, white skullcap, etc., and leave on all night.
2.Camomile: Use a fomentation over both ears of three parts of camomile and one part of lobelia. Take two ounces orally (a wineglass full) each two waking hours. Leave the fomentation on the ears all night. (Cover fomentation with plastic or oiled silk, etc.).
3.Mullein: Use three to six drops of mullein oil in both ears several times each day. Insert it upon retiring for the night, and, as before, plug the ears with cotton. Place a fomentation over the ears all night of three parts mullein and one part lobelia.
Testimonials
1.Garlic: When my little girl had an earache I put a piece of fresh garlic in her ear and it was better by morning. The previous alternative was to go to the doctor and pay a lot of money for penicillin.
Best of health to you

Hello! Either you have fluid behind your eardrum, or there's something more serious going on. If you had a cold and were congested, most likely you have fluid behind the eardrum, which will probably clear up on its own. Fluid behind the eardrum can cause some hearing loss, more like muffled hearing, but it does NOT cause a complete loss in hearing. Sometimes a decongestant will help clear up fluid. If the fluid does not clear up, an ear, nose & throat doctor might create a small opening in the eardrum to drain the fluid, and he/she might also place a small tube to keep the middle ear space clear. HOWEVER, if you did not have a cold with congestion, or if you really can't hear anything out of the affected ear, you need to see an ear, nose & throat doctor ASAP. Some illnesses can cause much bigger and serious problems with the ear, and the hearing loss may be permanent. There aren't a lot of treatments available to improve the hearing in these cases (i.e. oral steriod treatment or steroids injected directly into the middle ear space), and there is only a small window of opportunity for those treatments to be effective. Even with treatment, the hearing may not come back. You may want to consider contacting your family doctor for advice - better safe than sorry. Good luck!

If you have pain in that ear I would suggest you go to the doctor because you may be suffering from an ear infection. You will be surprised how many adults get ear infections. I suffer from them all the time. The doctor usually gives me antibiotics.

I'm not one to rush to the doctor, but in this case I would. There is a virus that can cause permanent hearing loss. It's more common than you think.

sounds like you need some nasal, sinus decongestant. if you are experiencing some pain it could be an inner ear infection, see your doctor.

Take a sinus decongestant. It will dry up your ears.
