Why do you want to know? My husband and I have separate checking accounts... we have our own money but we still split the bills and share with each other.
No one should control the money... relationships are equal partnerships. Both people should participate in the budgeting, saving and spending.

I (the wife) am better at budgeting and investing, and have more self control when it comes to spending. My husband knows this and is glad to let me worry/handle the money. Sometimes I have to drag him kicking and screaming into a conversation about money, because many times I'm berrating him over his spending habits. But this works for us most of the time, we haven't spent all our money yet.

this is example of my parents.
my mom will be the one controlling the accounts.
my dad will give all his salary to my mom where she will handle all the daily expenses/bills/savings/investmants basically everything for all of us. From what i know it is a joint account between the both of them. Seriously if my dad where to handle the accounts.. i bet he will spend everything on everyone and there will be no savings left.. haha

but for me im not sure what the approach i will take though ..

A marriage is suppose to be a partnership. Why not discuss your money . That is what my husband and I do if either of us want to make a big purchase we discuss it and decide if we can afford it.
