japanese scary films are among the best out there (then of course hollywood take them cast pretty people and change the best bits).. Anyway you have probably seen The Ring and all the sequels, the Grudge, how about Dark Water? There is now a hollywood version of it but don't bother with that. It's creepy, scary, jumpy and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Wolf Creek is a new-ish not so well known one that i found horribly disturbing.

Old japanese ones (and the re-makes don't suck to bad) like The Grude, The Ring etc.

The Hills Have Eyes, i haven't seen the original but i thought the re-make wasn't bad and the original is likely better.

That's all I can think of right now.

The ring 1 had me shitting myself. Also good are white noise, the hills have eyes, and house of wax as well. Try some of the older ones like halloween although they may seem a bit dated now.

I remember all my family watching the Stepford Wives when I was about 6 years old and I was terrified when I walked in and saw a bit of it! I'm now 25 and I still won't watch it!

What Lies Beneath. It's real ghost story with a decent plot excellent acting (Michelle Pfeiffer, yummy) and doesn't rely on cheap gratuitous gore. It's really creepy and will make you think twice about taking a solo bath.
