Not only have I never noticed such, but I'm really sure thats completely wrong. For the most part, those who want to legalize marijuana want to legalize all the other things that are no one else's business but the smoker's.
The ones I see wanting to criminalize tobacco use are the Mommynazis who want to make it illegal for you or I to do anything they don't want their 6yr old to do.

Many people have many different kinds of addictions and they often try to hide their own disease by attacking someone else's.
I was once at a party in Boulder CO. Someone put down some lines of cocaine. A woman that snorted one of the lines ACTUALLY told me to put out my cigarette because it was dangerous to her health!! True story!! We were leaving anyway so I didn't bother to tell her exactly what I thought of her and her illegal activities.

Um, I guess I must be the exception to the rule then, because I smoke, and I think marijuana should be legal.

umm yeah..they'll do anything to sell their selves..no-brainer...and why not? Its a smart thing to do....practice what you preach...
