I have been offered a live in position in a hotel in the UK (I'm from Italy). It sounds good at first because I don't have to wonder about finding a place to stay. But I'm just thinking of what kind of accommodation I could get.Are they reliable?Do you think I'm at least supposed to be given a room of my own?I don't ask for a luxury place but just for something acceptable.

I have had 3 live in jobs all within the restaurant/bar.hotel indutry. Some were better than others. In all 3 I had my own room. 2 had shared bathrooms and kitchens. I was my own flat on site but I was a manager at the time so it's a little different. Generally live in accomodation is not as bad as it used to be but be warned, as someone said it does tend to mean you get called on when they are short staffed so be firm from the beginnning.

Good luck

I had a boss for about 6 months who was being paid to live in a hotel. She was from the north of the UK and was paid to live in the south. She was given her own room and all her meals paid for etc. I know this is a slightly different situation, but of course they'd give you your own room! If in doubt, go and have a look before you accept and move in.

I'm sure if the hotel has offered you the job, they've thought of an acceptable place for you to stay.

From my personal experience live in jobs mean you are the one that gets called out of bed when they need extra staff - so think about if carefully!
