What did the execution accomplish? He was already harnessed.

His execution gives some people joy. There is no real or lasting joy in revenge and execution is really a form of vengence. His death will also be used as some to rally their followers against the Iraqi government and the U.S. In this sense, his death is going to be seen as martyrdom.
He could just as easily been locked up for the rest of his life. He could have even been placed under house arrest in some family home likePol Pot was and many other so-called "butchers". His execution accomplishes his death. That is really all it does.

I believe that he got what he deserved. Now the families of the thousands that he had killed can feel like they have received justice. He had to be stopped, I am just glad that it was the Iraqis that tried and executed him instead of America, we are having a hard enough time without adding that to the mix

The video was a disappointment.
As far as its existence, I do not care about Sadam or his family. When did they care about any one. It is for Iraq I object to the existence of the Video. I believe governments should have a professional standard of conduct. If doing an execution is not the time to be professional in their conduct, then when should they?

No one deserves to die that way and it shouldn't be available for everyone to see. He did mean things, but he's still human. WWJD? Also everyone's so caught up in the bullshit that we forgot, hey WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO OSAMA? We quit looking for the real man.
