It depends on who the friendship is with. I have friends that I am still in contact with after 44 years. I will be 54 this month. These are friends that will lend a shoulder for me to cry on, or applaud my endeavors, or gently tell me when I am wrong. They forgive me when I screw up. These are real "friends". You need to examine your friendship. Is this person worthy of keeping as a friend? Is he or she always there for you? Do they give to the relationship and not just always take? Friendship is a "give and take" relationship, just as any good relationship is. It takes work and nurturing. I value my friends and try to show them this in the way I treat them. In return, they also value me.

Well it was pretty important until they all met men and left me in the dust. Now I never see them and I am not exaggerating. I just need to get out there and meet some single sisters like me that plan to stay that way. Loyalty is dead.
