Yes you are but still use a condum. The birth control pill just make the chance of u getting pregnate slitter and if u wear a condom u make it even more less.

You are not completely protected in the first month.
The packet of information that comes with your pill pack may say that you are protected after one to two weeks of the pills.

Every physician that I have consulted on this matter prefers that patients use back up methods until the second pack.

You NEED to use barrier protection: condoms, spermicide, female condoms, diaphragms, etc. for the First Month/First Packet of Pills.

This gives the pill that you're using enough time to work correctly with your body and it also helps you get in a routine of taking the pills everyday at the same time. Otherwise, there is a high chance that you could become pregnant.

***Keep in mind, the pill (oral contraceptives) only wards off unintended pregnancy. They do not stop the transmission of HIV (AIDS), and other sexually transmitted diseases such as: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphylis, HPV, Genital Herpes, Hepatitis, Genital warts, or any other bacterial infection.

To be on the safe side you should always use a barrier method when having sex. Not to be cynical, but your partner may not know if they have these infections and they can be detrimental to your health.***

Also, if you have a situation where you miss pills keep this in mind:
one missed pill - take the missed pill immediately along with pill for that day.
two pills - take 2 next day and 2 the following day.
3 or more missed pills - stop the pill packet, use barrier protection. Start a new packet of pills Sunday after next normal cycle starts. And then use barrier protection with that first packet again.

Hope that helps. I am women's health counselor, so if you have more questions don't be afraid to ask!

The package says you are protected after 2 weeks, but it is really best to use something else until you finish the first pack and start the second one.
Also, the pill will protect you from pregancy if taken properly, but NOT from STD's - so do not forget about condoms.
However, on the second day of your period you are 'unlikely' to get pregnant (nothing is totally impossible, but it would be rare)

You should wait at LEAST one month before you consider yourself completely protected. and still, there is a slight chance of pregnancy, as with any birth control, except abstinenece.

No it takes a month for birth control pills to fully protect you. Please have your partner wear a condom.
