difference between pc2700 and pc2100?

Question

1. What is the difference between pc2700 and pc2100 RAM for notebook PC's?

2. My notebook can run pc2700 speed, will I degrade performance if i mix a 1GB pc2700 RAM with a 512 pc2100 RAM on my notebook?

You will degreade your performance slightly, because you will slow the pc2700 down to pc2100 speed. Better to just stick with the 1GB PC2700.

If the speed rating is the only difference in the RAM, it should run just fine.

BUT - the entire bank of RAM will run at the slower speed; i.e. PC2100 speed.
