um... oxygen.......
A chemical is made up of various combinations of elements.
What's an element? It's the smallest you can break a substance down and still have atoms. Each element is a collection of the same kind of atom- like an atom of gold, and atom of oxygen, and atom of uranium, etc. If you make them any smaller, you're left holding bits of the atom like protons, electrons, and quarks. If you pick out a single atom of oxygen, it will still be oxygen. However, if you pick out a single atom alcohol, you will not be holding an atom of alcohol, you'll be holding one of the many different atoms/elements that make up alcohol, like carbon, oxygen, or hydrogen.
The periodic table has the 109 elements. All chemicals are made out of combinations of these elements. These combinations are called "molecules." The smallest unit of water you can get is a single molecule that consists of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom- H2O. The smallest unit of aspirin you can get is a single molecule that consists of, I don't remember, something like 8 carbon atoms and 4 oxygen atoms and 12 thirobidium atoms or something like that- aspirin is a very complicated chemical with a big molecule.
Each element is a chemical. Anything the elements combine into molecules combine to make are chemicals.
So, the only chemical in oxygen is oxygen.
