just build one. it is more fun and you can get all the parts you want and need. remember, you can never have the perfect computer unless you build it yourself. get your parts from my source list (newegg). I have built several computers myself and would suggest these brands if you want to build one:
monitor: Acer 24" LCD 4ms
computer case: Antec
processor: AMD dual core (2.0 ghz or higher)
motherboard: ASUS (SLI Deluxe)
RAM: Corsair
video card: EVGA (1 Gig) in sli config. mode if you like

It depends on how much you have to spend, and even then, it depends on your need. There is no large SUV that costs $20,000 that gets 60MPG... Cheap, convenient, speedy. Pick Two :)
As far as getting a hot rod for a computer, it depends on how much you want to spend. Dell would follow the cheap route. The upside is how cheap you can get the computers. The downside is that Dell tends to cheap out on Power Supplies (Cheap power supplies can fry your PC, happened to me. Or they can just shut off when you play games) and some other components.
The cheapest of "Gaming" manufacturers would be Alienware, now owned by Dell. Alienware still seems to be running on their own, however. Cases are a love em/hate em thing.
Falcon Northwest is an upper end gaming manufacturer. Cheap? No. Fast? Definitely. Nice, nice computers.
Either way, here's what you'll want:
-A dual core processor. Intel has the edge for the first time in 5 years, but AMDs are also very good.
-DDR2 RAM, at least 1GB and preferably 2.
-A 7200RPM Hard Drive. Capacity is up to you, I recommend at least 250GB. Get a RAID0 if you want (two hard drives working as one). Fast, but twice as likely to have a problem. If one drive dies, then you lose everything.
-A Graphics Card with 256MB memory. ATI or Nvidia, I prefer Nvidia personally. 8800GTX is latest and greatest, but the 7800 is a nice card too (predecessor) and may be 1/2 the price.
Hope this helps!

These days, the best choice over all would be a Macintosh. With a Ma, you'll get a machine that's fast, secure and full of great features, plus the ability to run Windows XP and Mac OS X. Mac OS X will be perfect for most of your needs. For gaming, just use BootCamp to dual boot with Windows. There's nothing you can't do on a Mac.

the perfect computer for me would be one where it wouldn't let the customer or owner that wants me to fix it. touch any settings or hardware without the proper education and know how. oh how i hate when little johnny who has typing 101 in school suddenly thinks he is a master tech try to install lan drivers only to completly destoy all of device manager. or little suzy armed with control panel decides that she doesn't need her nvidia drivers. or little tommy who read the manual and thinks that if he pushes hard enough the the agp card will go into the pcie slot...

ROLF. I love the morons trying to promote Mac. Mac is only a Intel wanna be pc now adays. Same parts forced to use max os x with very little games. It's a moron machine now. True gamers runs Win XP because most games are SUPPORTED/RUN on Win xp, and the new gaming consoles (that use Powerpc cpus-what macs USE to have).

Building it yourself you be the "perfect" computer (well, about as good as you can get). It should set you back only $9000. Now how much money do you want to spend?

Have one custom built for you, or build one yourself. Tigerdirect.com or other online companies can custom build one for you as long as you know what type of hardware that you need. REALLY FAST; look for CPU clock speeds, number of CPU cores, the amount and type (DDR2 vs. DDR) of RAM that you have installed, and type of hard drives that you install (i.e. SATA 3.0-WD 10,000 RPM "Raptors") determine the speed of the computer. Good maintenance practices on the part of the owner also determines speed. Regular scans, defrags, etc. will help keep your computer as fast as it can be.

wait till end of jan when vista will be released...
buy any comp that runs vista(it wuld guaranteed be a fast one and yes advanced as well)........
as for perfection, i'd say instead of thinking that ur comps are imperfect, do the reverse thinking and u wuld start feelin that even ur oldies are perfect in some way...
perfection is a mind game....u never knw when it changes its definition!!!!!
