If you think about it... you are passing a razor blade over your skin... In all reality you are taking a couple of layers of skin off... dont worry those layers are dead, but what you are doing is exposing the layers that were not exactly ready to be on top.
1) make sure your face and neck are clean, If you have a mirror shave in the shower, because the steam softens the hair.
2) there are two things that you should never scrimp on, one is condoms, and the other is a razor... buy a good one. The gilette Fusion is sortof inexpensive and really good. also use a quality GEL... the foam is slightly more harsh on your skin.
3) shave, but not too hard!
4) use a really good aftershave, like Firefighter Plus from Origins
that should help calm the burn.

razor burn is commonly recieved by first time shavers. There skin is not used to having a razor on it. after you shave a couple of times it will go away. sometimes it is caused by a dull razo that pulls out the whiskers rather than cutting them. some ways to prevent it is to make sure your razor is sharp, and you dont use a dull razor. also aftershave helps.
