or is it safer to just major in regular Biology for medical school? The problem is that too many students major in Biology but it seems really important to major in Biology? What do you think is best major for Biology?

For Med School you don't have to major in anything particular. All you need are particular prerequisite classes. Major in something that interests you. If that is Bio, then by all means major in Bio. Major in something you enjoy, and minor in Pre Med. That will ensure that you get the prerequisites for Med School out of the way while you are taking your Major classes. Be sure to know which courses you need for the school that you want to attend. All Med Schools do not have the same prerequisites, so you will need to know the requirements for each school you are considering.

As for your question, Biochemistry is probably the only one of the three in which the most Med School prerequisites would be satisfied. If you are set on going for a science major, I would choose Biochem.

I would take Biology as a minor or just take the prereqs. So many students that want to go to med school go into biology or biochemistry... they make you take that anyway so why not set yourself apart by doing something completely different? Some schools even require it because its become so much more important to the admissions people that you are a rounded person, because it takes a very rounded person to be a good doctor. I believe Yale requires their applicants have a certain number of liberal arts courses or maybe even have majored in a liberal art to be considered for admission. Its a different story if you want to do research though, then you're better off doing the science major. If I could do it all over again I would have done my BA in Computer Science, there aren't enough people in the medical feild with an intimate knowlege of that subject, or so I'm told. Bioinformatics is a booming field too.
Good luck.
