Aloha from Down Unda!
Everybody's got an opinion. Mine is that you can find Jack-In-The-Box, Wendy's & MacDonalds in Las Vegas too! My big thrill is to get to International House of Pancakes, Denny's & just about any place they put a glass of ice water on the table & welcome you with a smile & 'SERVICE'! When it comes to food, I can not imagine anyone having trouble in Las Vegas with a truckload of children. They ARE the future guests of every hotel & casino & the hope of the planet! Why would you stress? First time out with the new one? Don't worry! Have the fun you're suppose to have & take a break from being responsible for 'dining'. Those buffets are everywhere & extremely good, designed with YOU in mind!!

Of course if it is a family wedding, then the daughter comes with you! If it were just a gambling junket, I would suggest to leave her at home. But you can handle the situation. Select a hotel with a great pool ( inside even better in March.) ExCaliber and Circus Circus have child friendly activities, but she is a little young. Rent a car and take some side trips to the desert and the mountains where the crowds are less. There are Mc Donalds and fast food restaurants everywhere. Go see the outdoor Pirate Battle at Treasure Island. See the lighted dome covering all of the area in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street. Watch the dancing waters at Bellagio. Ride the boats on the canal through the Venetian. Watch the volcano erupt at the Mirage. While you there, go and visit the dolphins and other things in the rear of the building. Children in Las Vegas are definitely at a disadvantage. But since it is a family wedding, go and have a great time!

A 16 month will really not have any concept of what's going on around her. I dont think there's anything of value in the entire city.
Just my opinion.
What is hot & what is not .. eh i guess i can answer that 17 different ways. Definately see the fountains of Bellagio & the Conservatory (also in the B).
Eat with kids... well there's a ton of buffets. Kids seem to like the CC buffet. I wont lie, the Circus Circus buffet is just awful. But, i seem to see a ton of kids there when i walk by (will not EVER enter it again).
You may want to bring kids (if they are at least 4 or 5 or 6 yrs old) to the jousting / gauntlet / thingy @ the Excalibur. It's a show / meal ALL IN ONE. Havent seen it, but some locals say it isnt bad.

At 16 months I don't know how much she will actually be doing. When she is older there is a place called Game Works on the strip and Circus Circus is entertaining. In the 90s Vegas tried to go for the whole "kid friendly" "family" place to go, but they are trying to break that now. They want to go back to being an adult playground. I wouldn't look too much on the strip for kid stuff to do. If you go off the strip we're pretty much like any other town. At the District at Green Valley they have a kid gym and some other things like that around town.

In the more "family" oriented casinos like Circus Circus,New York New York,Excalibur, and even the Aladdin-there are plenty of fast food and inexpensive places that would be appropriate to take kids to. It's not hot to take kids to the shows, restaurants, or into the actual casino area itself-unless they cater to "family style" dining,shows,etc-if you adhere to that you won't recieve the dirty looks and comments from the adults going to Las Vegas to GET away from kids. For older children the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton might be an idea and of course the Jousting Dinner at the Excalibur.

There is nothing there for a 16 month old. Do things you would like and take her along as long as it won't upset her.
Here are a few examples;
Any of the Buffets at any of the Hotels.
The dam restaurants at Hooters is a 50's cafe.
The top of the stratosphere (minus the rides).
The aquarium at Mandalay Bay.
The museums at the hotels on the strip. Such as the one at MontiCarlo and the Venetian.
Take the tram when you can. Traffic is a bear.

A few fun activities with little ones
Shopping
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace
The Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian
Desert Passage at Aladdin
The Fashion Show mall
Free Spectacles
The Fountains of Bellagio
Fremont Street Experience
Sunset Stampede - Sam's Town
Carnival in the Sky at Rio
Volcano/White Tigers at Mirage
Lion Habitat at MGM - Have photo taken with Lion cub>there is a charge for the photo, but, it would be cute.
Most of the buffets are not going to charge for a baby, it seems like most start charging half price for a 3YO.. IMHO these are the best, as far as having very good food at a great price..
Orleans - $7.45 Lunch
Main Street Station - $7.89 Lunch
Palace Station - $4.99 Lunch >PS has always had good prices but they have rolled their prices back to $3.99 for breakfast, $4.99 for lunch and $5.99 for dinner. If the prices remain, this is far and away the best value for a buffet in LV...
For a complete list of LV buffets. A great source of LV info
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com > "VEGAS INFO" > buffets >ratings,prices,times etc.
The Kids Quest child care centers will watch children as young as 6 weeks - locations >Boulder Station, Red Rock, Sante Fe Station, Sunset Station, Texas Station and The Palms.

sorry but as the others have said, vegas isnt for kids. although all the restaurants are kid friendly so that isnt a problem and the hotels have pools, there used to be a water park at the end of the strip but thats gone now!

herkco is right. Las Vegas is not a place for children that young.
The most child-friendly hotel is Circus Circus though.
