My mother had two ideas (1970's) - and got two reactions.
1. Wrote to Kleenex - had an idea for a florescent circle cover to go over the tissue box to help you find them at night when you were sick, like a cold.
reaction - Thank you - have these coupons for 25 free boxes of Kleenex Tissue! (I still buy Kleenex today!)
2. Wrote to (name withheld) - had an idea for liquid shower/bath soap.
reaction - stinging letter - how dare you write us - don't you know we have a research and development division and it is their responsibility to decide if such a product is needed, much less feasible.
wish I had kept that second letter - would have found a good lawyer

you have to know someone that knows someone, it is really hard to get your idea out there. dont just send in a letter or anything, they will steal your idea and leave you in the dust. if it's that good, copyright it, that way when someone important wants to use it, you cash in!
