Normal Cds are still read, but only DVD's are indicated as empty. Though they've worked well on DVD players.

Try uninstalling the drive using the Hardware Device Manager. Once it's uninstalled, reboot the pc and Windows should see the drive as "new hardware" and reinstall the drivers for the drive. Try the DVD's again at that point. You can also buy one of those CD/DVD drive cleaning discs. If neither one of these techniques work, chances are you'll have to replace the drive. Good luck.

I am assuming that there is no physical problem. If you haven't already-restart your computer- if that doesn't work try reinstalling the drive using "add hardware" in the control panel. these usually work. One more thing you can try before calling customer service is "System Restore" just pick a date when you know the drive was working and follow the instructions. Don't worry you wont lose any work you have done since then, it just resets the settings of the computer to a previous working configuration. P.S. Start> All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > system Restore.

loads of the time this is finger smudges, so it could no longer study it. i make the main of a comfortable ideally flannel fabric and wipe it carefuly in a around action. additionally there's a great distinction between dvd+rw, and dvd-rw. good success
