LG EnV question?

i recently bought a lg chocolate with the music essentials kit... long story short, i didnt like chocolate, so yesterday i switched it with an EnV. Its a great phone, but when i hooked up the verizon stereo headset (from music essentials kit) into the EnV, sound would only come in the headset if i pressed and held that silver button on the headset; when i let go of the button, it would play normally on the phone speakers, not the headset. I didnt have this problem with the chocolate at all... i never pressed the button on the headset when i had chocolate. Does any1 know how to fix this so i dont have to hold the headset button to listen through my headset?
