Sometimes it's good to play dumb, especially when one is tired and is not prepared to answer some question. But doing it too much will make people think that one is really stupid or has no opinions about matters in life.

It is absolutley clever to be stupid sometimes. Look at Chantelle & Jade from Big Big Brother. They have made a fortune out of being stupid. Also to be stupid makes other people less likely to see you as a threat.

If by stupid you mean ignoring a question or a situation and pretending you just don't understand, I'd say that might be clever.

I have found that when people think I don't understand something, that they feel the need to embellish and therefore dropping extra facts that I can later use as ammunition. Evil right!
