5(x+3)=2(3x+12)
5x+15 = 6x+24
hence x = 9

X is an unknown u need to remove brakets first: 5x+15=6x+24
then u take the X's to one side and the numbers to another side:6x-5x=15-24 => X = -9
make sure of the answer and replace -9 with every X => 5(-9+3)=2(-27+12) => 5(-6)=2(-15) => -30 = -30

To find that, you have to solve.
5(x+3)=2(3x+12)
use the distributive property for the parentheses
5x+15=6x+24
subtract 5x from each side
15=x+24
subtract 24
-9=x

X stand for the variable that needs to be solved so that both sides of the equation are true.
5(x+3) = 2(3x+12)
Distribute the 5 on the left side and the 2 on the right side (just multiply to get rid of the parentheses)
5x+15 = 6x+24
Now get X on its own side and numbers on the rest. So what you do to one side, you have to do to the other side. So subtract 5x and 24 from both sides
5x+15=6x+24
-5x-24=-5x-24
--------------------
-9 = x
so x = -9

Well thats exactly the point. What number DO the X's stand for. That is your job. You have to make the equation tell you its own answer, ie solve it. The left side becomes 5x + 15. The right side becomes 6x + 24. From here you get -9=x ( or x = - 9 same thing)
