All these books things. If you could only have one book, wouldn't you feel it be necessary as a book about your life, your journal ... published???

But as a book already in print. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Read the book to understand why because it's very strongin terms of universals themes!

The Bible. I am not a religious fanatic but if I had only 1 book I would have to have the bible, I cant think of any other book that could give me peace and guidance, not to mention prayer!

interesting answers, atleast most of 'em...i'd have to pick the Bible, or the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, they both have guidance of how to live a fulfilling and happy life. a toss up and today i don't have to give up my entire library...(lots of art books that i thoroughly enjoy, that would be tough...)
as you were on that answer...
Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain...that would be the one book i'd want to have...

My one great lifelong book is:
.
'A History of Western Philosophy' by Bertrand Russell
.
... and for the same reasons that dryest flame gave! ...

Russell's History is a book that has a great deal of vigour
and staying power, AND, like all great books, it bears
up well under constant and determined re-reading.
.
Yes, it is indeed 'the philosopher's bible'! :D

Kind of a loaded question. Many will answer with the "bible" yet many have not read it nor do they understand or question it. Me, well my vote goes to Marley & Me. An uplifting story with a bittersweet ending.
