I'd have to say, a 6th grader doesnt need a cell phone. i didn't get mine until i was in 7th grade, and that's because i was out with my friends ALOT, and my parents would want to check up on me. But, like that other person said, save up money for a Cingular Go Phone [best prepaid i've heard of] and get the cheapest phone and minutes, [about $50.] It's a start. Or show your parents that your responcible enough to have one, start doing random things to clean up the house, offer to do the dishes, vaccuum the house, help out your mom or dad bring in the groceries, and offer to put them up. There's no end to what you could do. Then, sit them down and have a talk with them, about why you've been helping them, and you think you should have a cell phone.

I agree with Joseph. Also, you can say that your parents will be able to check up on you when you are at a friend's house or at the mall; you can also use it to check in with them when you're out or will be late. Also, do research for the best types of phones and plans for teenagers and present to your parents your research. Show them that you are serious and that you have done your homework on this.

I agree with those guys, a cell phone is a wonderful tool to have in emergencies. But if all else fails, if you get an allowance, you could always save up, and buy a prepaid phone...Beggars can't be Choosers...

I would generally say that someone your age doesn't need one. OTOH, if you're really mature, that would be a strong and convincing point. Continue to present your case, because you're always going to have to be doing that in various circumstances throughout life.

Just ignore your sister and try to remind your parents about all the good things you done or done for them IF you got straight A's on all your report cards tell them that

GOOD LUCK!
