I newly own a home desktop with Windows XP Professional. I have created a user account for my brother and a guest account. Being the system administrator, I wish to manage access to different programs for these two user accounts.

For example, can I deny access to a particular application or program such as Powerpoint ? And can I deny or allow access only to certain forlders and files ?

If someone could explain to me how to do this, please..

Yeah, that's actually pretty easy. Go to the parent folder for the application that you want to limit access to. Right click the folder and select Properties. Go to the security tab and add the user account and select "Deny" for the access permissions.

If the user is a restricted user they won't be able to access any important folders or files. They will generally only have access to their personal "My Documents" folder as well as sufficient access to run programs that you haven't blocked as described above.
