I dont think theres a possible way of putting radio free on your ipod without the radio remote, but im sure someone is probably working on an app that would do so. Podcasts are basically audio blogs. You subscribe to whichever content you want through itunes or direct from the source and are usually free. They update automatically on itunes and u can syn them to ur ipod. This can be quite useful say if you subscribe a sports podcast and you want to listen to it on the bus or something. There also video podcasts that work in the same way and can be viewed on the ipod video or through itunes or quicktime. They update with new episodes just like the audio ones. There is a lot of content to chose from, from cooking shows(audio or video), weekly movie reviews and analysis the choice is overwhelming.
Just look for urself on itunes and find something that interests you and subscribe to it. You understand it better with a first hand experience.

Podcasts are recorded radio programmes (or highlights of them) that are posted on the internet so you can subscribe to them and load them to your iPod.

They're completely free, just select "Podcasts" in iTunes and click on "Podcast Directory" which will show you what's avaliable in a Music Store kind of way.

I recommend either Ricky Gervais's Christmas podcasts he did for the Guardian or BBC Radio 4's The Now Show.

I don't think you can put the radio on your I-pod, but you can listen to it through I-Tunes. Podcasts are free and come in different forms such as audio and video and they free. You can find them on I-tunes. Just go to the music store. There are a lot of them and I believe anyone can create one.

I hope - because I wrote it - that http://www.virginradio.co.uk/djs_shows/shows/podcasts/index.html is a pretty clear introduction to what podcasts are. If not, please do yell, and I'll make it clearer!
