Of course it's not about oil! Everybody knows that America is at war to SAVE Iraq, because Americans just LOOOOVE Muslim Arabs so much and can't STAND to see some dictator killing them when we could be doing it so much better! So we go in, kill a load of Arabs, capture their leader, kill some more Arabs, let sectarian violence run rampant and Arabs kill each other, and kill their former leader because he killed Arabs... and proceed to kill some more Arabs and let Israel entertain the thought of killing a whole load of Arabs!

How naive are people?!

Oil is a huge deal. It is the lubricant that makes the modern economic engine run (literally). Almost all transportation is fuel-based, production technologies are fuel-based, and even materials (ie plastic) are manufactured from crude oil! Iraq has the most untapped oil deposits in the world. Hussein was clearly interested in limiting oil exports to keep the price high and help pay off Iraqi war debts from their war with Iran, and Kuwait was like "Not only are we not going to play along with you, but we're going to claim even more debts against you AND we're going to slant-drill into your border oil reserves! Now come invade us so that America can come take you over and we can all be rich at the expense of the Iraqi people and the world's future generations because there will be no oil left for them!" America does not go around liberating people for the sake of being nice... military action is extremely costly and is only utilized when the economic benefit is expected to exceed the economic cost. These are the issues that the Pentagon ponders, not whether we should help a bunch of suffering foreigners out. People who believe that that's how the Pentagon works must also believe in Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny.

And did you do not ignore that the U. S. does not get a drop of oil from Irak. BTW Haliburton does not own a unmarried oil nicely, in Irak or everywhere else. And if you're so worried about undesirable Irak, do you sometime supply a idea to the thousands of thousand of Irakis slaughtered by Saddam, who by the fashion change into as dumb as a rock. All he had to do change into enable the inspectors in and enable them see he had no WMDs and bingo, no warfare. instead he performed stupid video games and led them round by the nostril after being instructed what might want to take position if he did not cooperate.

I think quite a few probably do, maybe 65% but, I don't. It is about enemies and world power. If you were a country and there was another who was your enemy and liked to do evil things to others and you didn't want them to gain more power or the ability to do you harm wouldn't you really want to get rid of the leader behind the evil and convince them to your way of thinking to make them your allie not your enemy? Of course, why would you sit idly by and watch them become more of a threat to your well being and safety?

It can be seen as quite simple really -- stay in power, get along with others and don't get crushed by your enemies.
