I think, as long as the colors are "neutrals", and there aren't many patterns on either or the pattern on either is very subtle, it can work. By neutrals, I mean any single, solitary color (black, blue, gray, white, etc.), and by subtle pattern, I mean a small hound sooth or plaid, but not a "big print" plaid.

I have a camel/tan colored wool coat and wear with my brown trousers all the time. Looks just fine. I have also worn my black coat (one leather and one wool) with some nice ivory/winter white pants.
just depends on the outfit I suppose.

Im just wierd like that. I have my days when I want to be funky and original. March to the beat of my own drum. I would soo wear it. I dont try to conform to the ideals of how everyonelse thinks i should dress or look. Would a rainbow colored fuzzy fleece coat make me look gay?? Probably, but atleast im being my own individual.

If you are short than you can wear a dark shade trouser and a lighter shade coat, to look taller.

if you enjoy standing out in a crowd, then yes. But if you dont, try making them neutral or pastels to tone the contrast down.
hope this helps:)

depending on how greatly the two are contrasting. if both are bold colors, forget it(......unless you really like the psychedilic fashion i suppose) if one's medium and another a shade lighter or bolder, it's fine.

yes as long as they are both in the same color family. and as for patterns, you can wear them, preferably if the pattern is on the pants. for example if the pattern has green in it, you can wear a green jacket.
