The game would be shorter which would be attractive to some new fans. I don't think that it would be more challenging or exciting though. There is an incredible amount of strategy that goes into a 9 inning game that most people don't realize. Watch how certain managers utilize their bullpen and manuever players as games progress. Cutting 2 or 3 innings off the game will make it less challenging.
True baseball fans will never go for it either. History and tradition are more important to baseball than any other sport. Changing the length of the games means re-writing the record books entirely and that is something I could not bear to witness.

I would not want that to happen. I think it would make the game more exciting to people who don't really like the game of baseball. I for one can sit down, watch nine or even more than nine innings of baseball and if my team is playing I will be having a good time. Nine innings give more time for so many more exciting things to happen. You cant just do this either. This would through the entire record keeping system out of wack. For a long time, baseball has been played with nine inning games and if you change this by virtually cutting the system by 1/3 it would be a disaster. With 6 inning games, it makes it where no offensive record will even come close to being broken again. When people start talking about records being set and broken....that is exciting and you would be taking that away from the game of baseball.

NO!!! The game of baseball has been played at the major league level for over 100 years and they have always played 9 innings. The game would drastically change if the innings were changed. Scoring would drop since you could pitch your best pitcher 6 innings and go straight to a closer. The games would be so low scoring that it would actually be more boring.

No way then that would cut down on the amount of players needed on the team, and teams wouldnt have enough time to catch up. For example, there would be no need for relievers in that case cuz as it is starters go 7 innings as it is. And also if a team gets beat up early then they have 8 more innings to eat away at the lead scoring one run at a time, if it were shorter then teams wouldnt have the time to catch up.

no..they are just fine at 9 innings. Most baseball games i go to rarely go over 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours, which is way faster that football that takes 5 minutes to play 1 min.

Well then that would get rid of many players jobs. There would be no need for middle relievers and really no need for closers. The games would be too short, i dont care what people say about them being too long now, they are great to watch. Also offensive numbers would go down due to not getting the same amount of at bats and making records now unreachable resulting in more players taking steroids.

No way. It's history and traditions. You can't change that. I'm sure there would be some that would be in favor of a change, but not the majority. 9 innings is the standard of excellence.

Good queston. I think No. Because we wouldnt have 9th 8th 7th inning comebacks like 13-12 wins when there down 7 runs ...Like the Yanks and the rangers.

No way. 500 hrs would be impossible now. About 20 full games are cut out that way, and no records Will be possible anymore. IP, strikeouts, and Wins as well as the fact that starters will always go the full 6 or 7. TERRIBLE IDEA
LOL even Jared Wright
