Stanford was on old USAF base, converted many years ago into a tourist airport. It still lacks the sophistication of Orlando which is closer then Stanford. However, the roads are good but the hire car arrangements are dreadful. If you could get straight into a hire car with your bags you would be in International Drive in 45 minutes. But because they are still not well organised like Orlando it will take you about 1 1/2 hours door to door. That is why your flight to Stanford is cheaper. Remember you get what you pay for.

Stanford University is in the San Francisco, California area. It's in Palo Alto, CA; and the airport in San Jose is used. That's south bay area. Florida is on the other side of the country so it's about 3,000 miles between the two. I think International Drive is in Orlando, Florida.

I think you mean Sanford Airport. It is about a 45 minute drive and several $$ in tolls if you avoid I-4 and take the 417. If you try the interstate (I-4), it may take you even longer due to traffic (really bad in the mornings - people going to work, lunch time - well that says it all, and evenings - people trying to get home from work.)

I was there recently, it really depends which end. Int Drive is a very long road, roughly about 1 hour 15mins to the closest end to sanford airport
