lookinf to go to visit communes in california. is there any communes still left in california and where are they?

Yes. Communes tend to be called "intentional communities" in the USA, and the Federation of Intentional Communities has a searchable database. California has 164 entries, and you can narrow the search down with a number of selection criteria. There's also a Google Earth style map which you can use, if location is an important factor.
