Your filter is too strong for him. You need to turn it down slightly. The stress of fighting against it will eventually cause him to die through a stress related illness. Fish are very prone to stress.

being a small fish the water flow from your filter in your tank will cause the guppy to look like it is going backwards

guppys are small fish, i asume you have a filter in your tank and as the water is being clean it moves the water round being a small fishy he is proberly being blown back in the current! x
