i don't know a lot about drums. he has a band. how can i keep a conversation with him??

Ask him questions about the drum set. Types of sticks he uses, whether his drums are made of maple.. types of cymbals.. or what he thinks are the better cymbals.. I'm a musician.. Musicians can sometimes be too involved with themselves etc.. How do you quite a guitar player? Put some sheet music in front of him. (most guitarists are lousy sight readers) There is a site for musician jokes.. that might work too.

Why don't you ask him to teach you?The easiest way to keep a conversation to let him speak.He'll talk a lot about it you just have to show some interest in it.
I surely know it,my girlfriend always does the same :)

Do some research, talk about some drummers in bands :) Like Cartel, Hellogoodbye, Bowling For Soup, ect.
