Core 2 Duo is an Intel Processor sporting dual cores. What this means is the processor acts as if it is actually 2 seperate processors running in the same chip. The multiple cores actually help speed up processing on machines prioritizing tasks to cores with low load.

Think of it like this putting two computer processor in on case. faster responds all across the board and more sound and graphics capability. Just think of the possiblities you could accomplish with 2 dual cores.
