yeah..they have a bad habit of just disappearing...

some get transformed into actions, some hide inside our head, and come out to surprise us sometimes, some are only half formed and dissolve, some get lost and we have to concentrate really hard to find them again, some reach the person they were meant for, and some get tangled in with other thoughts and remain in the background, some get really attached to the head and refuse to leave, most are fleeting, which keep going from one person to another, only a very few are original, which originate and remain with us...

There are many theories about this but first, you must define the term, "thought". To me, a thought is something that happens rather than something you can possess and store. It is like sunlight. Where does yesterday's sunlight go?

The simple answer to your question is that a thought remains in your mind and stays there forever as a memory. And that, of course, raises the question of what makes up memory....

Thoughts are generated and shared. They circulate among us. Some are developed further whilst others are discarded of. Others disappear until triggered again one day. Remember the saying "I thought so"!

Well try to make an analogy to computers... We are born with a biological computer... our brain.. it is switched on when we are born, switched off when we die... our software are our 'thoughts' they are some series of electrical impulses.. they cannot go 'somewhere' they do not have existence...

they are gone. some stay in my memory, some just run away like water from spring, giving birth to new thoughts. thoughts. i think they stay in our memory though we don't remeber they are there. i say this because sometimes while sitting, things come in my mind which i think i mght have thought in past. so...
